New Delhi: National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) presidential candidate, Draupadi Murmu is all set to file her nomination today. She will be accompanied by all the senior leaders including the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister and Chief Ministers of states during her nomination as a show of support according to ABP News sources. The former Governor of Jharkhand had arrived in the national capital on Thursday for her nomination.

Murmu was the first tribal woman to be appointed as the governor of an Indian state. If elected, she will also be the first President of India from a tribal community and second ever female President after Pratibha Patil.

At least four nominations may be filed in Murmu’s support, reported news agency PTI quoting its sources from the Bharatiya Janata Party as a presidential candidate requires a set of 50 proposers and 50 seconders for his or her nomination. PM Modi is expected to be the first proposer, the report added.

To contest Murmu, the Opposition has fielded Yashwant Sinha as its joint candidate for the presidential polls that will take place on July 18.

Numbers are heavily on Murmu’s side after Naveen Patnaik-led Biju Janata Dal extended the tribal leaders its support, ensuring that she already has the majority support with the BJP expecting some other regional parties like YSR Congress and the AIADMK to also back her.

Nadda on Tuesday announced her name as the NDA's presidential candidate following a meeting of the party's parliamentary board, which included the prime minister and other senior leaders.
