President Droupadi Murmu will begin a two-day trip to West Bengal on Monday, during which she would visit Santiniketan to attend the annual convocation of Visva-Bharati, according to a statement released by the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday.


On Monday, the president will pay her respects to Subhash Chandra Bose at Netaji Bhawan in Kolkata. She would pay respect to Rabindranath Tagore in Jorasanko Thakurbari later in the day, according to the announcement.






The president will attend a civic banquet in her honour at Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata later that evening, according to the statement. The president will pay a visit to Belur Math the following day.


Mamata Banerjee and the President will share the stage at the significant formal event.


She will also attend the UCO Bank's 80th-anniversary ceremony in Kolkata. The president will thereafter go to Santiniketan to attend Visva-annual Bharati convocation, according to the statement.


Earlier on March 19, President Murmu paid a visit to the Vivekananda Rock Monument in Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari district.


“Visiting the iconic Vivekananda Rock memorial is a memorable experience for me. I marvel at the greatness of the late Eknath Ranade Ji who was behind the building of the spiritually charged complex”, tweeted the President’s official Twitter handle.


From March 16 to March 21, President Murmu visited Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Lakshadweep for a week-long trip.


Earlier at the Civil Investiture Ceremony-I held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on March 22, President Droupadi Murmu gave out 47 Padma Shri Awards in addition to 3 Padma Vibhushan, 4 Padma Bhushan, and 3 Padma Vibhushan. The luminaries present at the occasion were Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
