New Delhi: The festival of Krishna Janmashtami is being celebrated across the country today. Preparations have been made in Mathura for Janmashtami to celebrate the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. On the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, morning aarti was performed at Krishna Janmasthan Temple in Mathura. President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have greeted the people on the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami. 


President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted, "Hearty greetings to all countrymen on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami.  This festival is an opportunity to learn about the life story of Lord Krishna and dedicate ourselves to his messages.  I wish that this festival brings happiness, health and prosperity to everyone's life. "



Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conveyed his best wishes to the people of the country. He tweeted, "Greetings to you all on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami. Jai Sri Krishna!"



Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath tweeted, "Heartiest greetings and best wishes to all devotees and people of all the states on the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami. The Lord of the world, I pray to Lord Krishna for the welfare of all."



Delhi tightens security


Delhi Police on Sunday said that it has tightened security arrangements across the national capital ahead of Janmashtami celebrations. People have been asked to follow the Covid-19 safety protocols. Delhi Police public relations officer Chinmoy Biswal said adequate security arrangements have been made. 


Biswal said, "We have deployed adequate numbers of personnel in all districts across the national capital. We also urge people who will come out of their homes to follow Covid-appropriate behaviour."
