New Delhi: Prayagraj-Jaipur Express train will have an AC-3 tier economy coach from today. The railways will remove two sleeper coaches from the train and introduce two AC-3 tier economy coaches. Prayagraj-Jaipur Express is the first train in the country to be fitted with these new compartments. The CPRO of Prayagraj Junction Zone shared several things regarding the coach.
After the Prayagraj-Jaipur Express train, AC-3 tier economy coaches will be installed in Lokmanya Tilak Terminus -Kochuveli, Visakhapatnam-Amritsar and Lucknow-Mumbai Pushpak Express trains. The initiative of bringing AC-3 tier economy coaches is aimed at making passengers' travel to AC coaches cheaper.
The fare of this coach has been kept lower than that of a regular AC-3 tier coach. On this train, the fare from Prayagraj to Mathura is Rs. 905 for the AC-3 coach while the fare in economy class is Rs. 835. However, the Railways has kept AC-3 class fare and economy class fare same from Prayagraj to Kanpur, Fatehpur.
The AC economy coach has many features but it has reduced the gap between certain seats. While AC-3 has 72 seats, the economy has 83. These coaches are capable of running at an optimum speed of 160 kmph.
Ergonomically designed ladders have been added for accessing the middle and upper berths. Along with touch-free bio-toilet, the new coach will also have AC ducting to provide individual AC vents for each berth. This will enable passengers in each seat to have the comfort of air-conditioning.
