New Delhi: In a high-level meeting between Congress chief Sonia Gandhi with other party leaders to discuss the induction of poll strategist Prashant Kishor on Saturday, the latter gave a detailed presentation on the 2024 election strategy.

Apart from Prashant Kishor, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, senior Congress leaders Ambika Soni, Digvijiya Singh, Mallikarjun Kharge, Ajay Maken, KC Venugopal, were also a part of the meeting at Sonia’s residence.

After the meeting ended, party leader KC Venugopal, as quoted by news agency ANI, said, “Prashant Kishor has given a detailed presentation on 2024 polls strategy to the Congress chief. The plan presented by him will be looked after by a group set up by Cong chief & the group will submit report within a week time to party chief for a final decision.”

Speaking on whether Kishor would join the party, Venugopal added, "Every detail will be informed within a week's time."

Notably, Kishor was supposed to join the grand old party in 2020 but the plan did not materialise due to certain reasons. Now, the meeting on Saturday has brought back the buzz around Kishor joining the party.

According to reports, Kishor had recently resumed his negotiations with the Gandhis for joining Congress ahead of 2024 general election.

Earlier, the two sides had fallen out after several talks on working together.

There have also been instances where Kishor has been critical of the Congress leadership. During the Lakhimpur Kheri incident last year when Priyanka Gandhi was detained on her way to Lakhimpur Kheri, Kishor had said that there is no quick solution to the "deep-rooted problems and structural weakness of GOP."

However, sources close to the poll strategist, countering the Congress's claim that the talks are focused on the Gujarat election later this year, said that both the sides are majorly focussing on inducting Kishore with an eye on the 2024 national election, after the drubbing in the recently concluded assembly elections in five states.
