New Delhi: Launching a vitriolic attack on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after extending his support to the Delhi guest teachers’ sit-in protest, Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu on Sunday said “an ounce of performance is worth a pound of preachment” and added “practice what you preach”.

“An ounce of performance is worth a pound of preachment, practice what you preach @ArvindKejriwal Ji … Delhi School Teachers say they are treated as bonded labour & daily wagers, paid per day, no payment for holidays or weekends, No guarantee of contract, removed without notice !” he tweeted.

The cricketer-turned-politician alleged the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is filing up vacant posts through guest lecturers.

“In 2015 there were 12,515 job vacancies for teachers in Delhi but in 2021 there are 19,907 job vacancies of teachers in Delhi. While AAP Govt is filing up vacant posts through guest lecturers !!” he said in another tweet.

The Punjab Congress chief, who joined the Delhi guest teachers’ sit-in protest outside Kejriwal’s Civil Lines residence in the national capital, alleged that unemployment rate has increased by almost five times during the AAP regime in the last five years.

“In your 2015 manifesto you promised 8 lakh new jobs and 20 new colleges in Delhi, where are the jobs and colleges ? You have given only 440 Jobs in Delhi. On the contrary of your failed guarantees, unemployment rate of Delhi has increased by almost 5 times in last 5 years !!” he tweeted.

The guest teachers are demanding regularisation of their jobs.

The Punjab Congress chief’s outburst against Kejriwal comes as the AAP supremo had earlier joined the contractual teachers in Mohali, who staged a protest making a similar demand.
