Baramulla: The PPE kit being used in the war against Covid is being misused as aid by robbers. 3 armed men wearing PPE kits robbed Rs 6 lakh from a branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank in North Kashmir's Baramulla. The incident took place on Thursday afternoon.
According to the police, three armed men entered the Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch situated in the Sherabad Khore area of Baramulla.

The bank guards stationed there tried to prevent the robbers from entering the building. In response to this, the robbers broke the door and tried to lock the people who were inside.
Attempts by the people present there thwarted the robbers' efforts and in haste, they were able to steal only Rs 6 lakhs out of the Rs 30 lakhs deposited in the bank. While running away, these robbers also fired several rounds from their guns.
The vehicle that the robbers had come in was also hurriedly left on the spot, they stopped another vehicle on the road to flee.
According to Bank's security guard, he tried to stop the three who had come there wearing PPE kits, but he was attacked. According to the guard, he also fired two rounds from his 12 bore gun, but the robbers also snatched his gun.
The police have started investigating the case. Meanwhile, it is not yet clear whether those who robbed the bank were regular thieves or terrorists.
