New Delhi: The Delhi High Court was on Friday informed the Central government will soon form a policy and the children will be vaccinated against Covid-19 when the experts give their permission.


The Centre also told the Delhi High Court that clinical trials for Covid-19 vaccines for children under 18 years of age are going on and on the verge of completion.

Let the trials be done, otherwise it would be a disaster if vaccines are administered without trials that too in case of children, observed a bench of Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh, PTI reported.


Stating the whole country is waiting, the High Court bench added once the trials are over, you quickly apply to the children.


Hearing a PIL filed on behalf of a minor, the High Court sought directions for immediate vaccination of those in the 12 to 17 age group on the ground that there were fears that a likely Covid third wave could affect them more.

The matter will be next heard on September 6.


Meanwhile, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed that more than 41.10 crore vaccine doses have so far been provided to the states and Union Territories through all sources and a further 52,90,640 doses are in the pipeline.
