United Nations:  Antigua government has assured Indian government that it would provide all necessary help in extradition of fujitive Mehul Choksi. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj urged her Antigua counterpart Chet Greene and sought his return to India as soon as possible.


Speaking on the same, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Ravish Kumar said that Antigua government assured that their government will provide all the necessary support.

He said that the Wednesday meeting also took place post a request from Antigua foreign minister. During the meeting he said that he wanted to personally tell that his government will provide all necessary help to India in Choksi’s extradition. Though, he also mentioned that the judicial probe and procedures will have to be kept in mind.

During a conversation with Antigua government, Sushma Swaraj said that it would be better if the matter is resolved as soon as possible and that people in India want that fugitives like Choksi who fled with money worth crores, which belonged to common man must be held.




Mehul Choksi is one of the main accused in Rs 13,000 crore Punjab and National Bank scam, along with his nephew Nirav Modi.
