New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reply to the debate on Motion of Thanks to President Droupadi Murmu's address in Rajya Sabha today. This year’s Budget Session of the Parliament started with President Droupadi Murmu's address to the joint session of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. During the speech, the President listed the government’s achievements amid the Covid-19 crisis, especially the steps to fight the pandemic and to aid farmers and women.
PM Modi will speak in Rajya Sabha a day after he replied to the President’s address in Lok Sabha.
He started his speech by praising President Droupadi Murmu. "In her visionary Address, the President guided us and crores of Indians. Her presence as the Head of the Republic is historic as well as inspiring for the daughters and sisters of the country," PM Modi said.
"The President has enhanced the pride of the tribal community. Today, after several years of independence, there is a sense of pride in the tribal community and an increase in their self-confidence. This nation and House is grateful to her for this," he said.
During his speech, the PM touched upon several points, including India's phenomenal growth in multiple sectors, the Congress's alleged scams during the UPA governments, and detailed the government's efforts for the development of the country.

The Prime Minister’s speech in Parliament comes at a time when the Opposition is trying to corner the Centre over Adani row. The Opposition parties have been attacking the government alleging them of having ties with the Adani group.
A day before PM’s speech in Lok Sabha, Congress MP launched attacks on the BJP-led Centre and said that the relationship between PM Modi and Gautam Adani began many years ago when the former was chief minister of Gujarat. He also said that real magic began when PM Modi reached Delhi in 2014.
