New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the first series of “Collected Works of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya” on the occasion of the noted freedom fighter’s 162nd birth anniversary on December 25. The anthology of work will be released in a set of 11 volumes.
According to a government release, the decision comes in line with the prime minister’s vision to acknowledge the valour and sacrifice of the freedom fighters in the most fitting way. The “Collected Works of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya” is an endeavour in this direction.
The 11-volume bilingual work comprises 4,000 pages and is a compilation of the freedom fighter and educationist’s writings and speeches collected from every nook and corner of the country.
The anthology of work comprises his unpublished letters, articles and speeches, including memorandums, editorial content of the Hindi weekly 'Abhyudaya' which was started by him in 1907. The 11-volume work will also include articles, pamphlets and booklets written by Malviya and all his speeches at the Legislative Council of the United Provinces of Agra and Awadh between 1903 and 1910.

“The work also includes his statements delivered before the Royal Commission, speeches during the presentation of Bills in the Imperial Legislative Council between 1910 and 1920, letters, articles and speeches written before and after the establishment of Banaras Hindu University, and a diary written by him between 1923 and 1925,” the government statement said.
Mahamana Malaviya Mission, an institution devoted to propagating his ideas undertook the research work and compiled the documents written by him.
A dedicated team, led by veteran journalist Ram Bahadur Rai, worked on Malaviya's original literature without altering the language and text. The series was published by the Publications Division under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
