Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate six new AIIMS (All India Institutes of Medical Sciences) across the country, including locations in Samba, Jammu and Kashmir, and Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, within the next six days. Prime Minister Modi will kickstart the series of inaugurations by dedicating the AIIMS in Samba district, Jammu and Kashmir, at an event in Jammu on Tuesday.
Following this, five more AIIMS will be inaugurated in Rajkot, Mangalagiri, Bathinda, Rae Bareli, and Kalyani, with a grand programme scheduled in Rajkot, Gujarat, on February 25, according to officials cited by news agency PTI.
AIIMS Jammu
The AIIMS Jammu, whose foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Modi in February 2019, is being established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana. With an investment exceeding Rs 1,660 crore and sprawling across an area of 227 acres, the hospital boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including 720 beds, a medical college with 125 seats, and a nursing college with 60 seats. Additionally, it features an AYUSH block with 30 beds, residential quarters for faculty and staff, student hostels, and various amenities like an auditorium and shopping complex.
PM Modi To Unveil New Medical Colleges, Critical Care Blocks, And Integrated Public Health Labs
Apart from the AIIMS inaugurations, Prime Minister Modi will also unveil multiple medical colleges, nursing colleges, and advanced health facilities across the nation. Under the PM-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, new medical colleges, critical care blocks, and integrated public health labs will be initiated, PTI's report mentioned. Advanced research labs of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and various National Health Mission (NHM) projects will also be dedicated.
PM Modi To Inaugurate Food Safety Infrastructure Projects
Ensuring the safety and quality of food consumed by millions of Indians, Modi will inaugurate advanced food safety infrastructure projects in multiple states. These collective efforts, with a total investment of Rs 11,391.79 crore, are poised to revolutionize India's healthcare landscape, officials emphasized. The projects aim to provide quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare for all, while also expanding medical education opportunities across the country.
According to PTI, officials underscored the significance of these initiatives as they noted a substantial increase in budget allocation for healthcare under the NDA government, rising from Rs 37,330 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 90,658.63 crore in 2024-25, marking a remarkable surge of approximately 143 percent.
"These healthcare infrastructure projects will play a pivotal role in nurturing the next generations of doctors and healthcare professionals, thus propelling India towards a healthier, happier, and prosperous tomorrow," officials stated, as quoted by PTI.
