New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off his Diwali 2021 celebrations by reaching the Nowshera sector of Jammu & Kashmir to meet the soldiers. Upon his arrival, he met top Army officials and paid tributes to soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty, at Nowshera in Jammu and Kashmir.






After his address to the troops, he met the soldiers and exchanged sweets with them to celebrate Diwali. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also interacted with veterans at Nowshera.

Ahead of PM Modi's visit, Army Chief General MM Naravane on Wednesday carried out aerial reconnaissance of forward areas and was briefed about the prevailing security situation along the Line of Control (LOC) in the Jammu region.


This is not the first time that Prime Minister Modi is celebrating Diwali with the soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier in 2019, after the removal of Article 370, he celebrated Diwali with the soldiers posted in the Rajouri district.


Last year, during the coronavirus pandemic, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had celebrated Diwali with soldiers posted in Longewala, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.


"For your sacrifices, your gallantry, each Indian will light at least one diya for you today on the occasion of Diwali," said PM Modi to troops in Nowshera Sector of J&K
