Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Surat Diamond Bourse, World’s largest and modern centre for international diamond and jewellery business. The office will be a global centre for trading rough and polished diamonds and jewellery. According to an official release from the Prime Minister's Office, the Bourse comprises state-of-the-art 'Customs Clearance House' for Import – Export Jewellery mall for retail jewellery business and a facility for International Banking and Safe Vaults.
This new workspace is even bigger than the Pentagon, the world's largest office space for 80 years, as per CNN.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also inaugurated the new terminal building of Surat Airport in Gujarat.
Earlier, PM Modi shared a post on X, formerly Twitter, and said that Surat Diamond Bourse showcases the dynamism and growth of Surat's diamond industry.
"It is also a testament to India’s entrepreneurial spirit. It will serve as a hub for trade, innovation and collaboration, further boosting our economy and creating employment opportunities," he added.
He also shared about inaugurating Surat airport new terminal and called it a major infrastructural upgrade. "I will be in Surat tomorrow, 17th December. The new integrated terminal building of Surat Airport would be inaugurated."
"This is a major infrastructural upgrade for Surat, boosting ‘Ease of Living’ and ensuring greater commerce for the city and surrounding areas," the PM said on X.
