Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday attended Ganesh Puja at Chief Justice DY Chandrachud’s residence in New Delhi.
A video of the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration at Chandrachud’s residence shows PM Modi offering prayers to the deity along with the Chief Justice and his spouse Kalpana Das.
The video shows Chandrachud and his wife Kalpana Das welcoming Modi at their house. Modi is then seen participating in the puja at their residence.
"Joined Ganesh Puja at the residence of CJI, Justice DY Chandrachud Ji. May Bhagwan Shri Ganesh bless us all with happiness, prosperity and wonderful health," PM Modi said in a post on X.
The 10-day festival dedicated to the elephant-headed deity began with Ganesh Chaturthi on September 7 and will end with Anant Chaturdashi on September 17.
Ganeshotsav is one of the biggest festivals in Mumbai and other parts of the state.
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Varsha in Mumbai, which is the official residence of Eknath Shinde, to offer prayers to Lord Ganesh.
On the fifth day of the festivities, the BJP leader participated in the ‘aarti’ at Varsha, Shinde's office said in a statement. Shinde's son and Kalyan MP Shrikant Shinde and former Lok Sabha member Rahul Shewale were also present on the occasion.
US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti also visited Mumbai's Shree Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Sanstha, from where Ganesh festival was transformed into a public event by Lokmanya Tilak and offered prayers to Ganesha.
In his message, Garcetti said as mayor of Los Angeles and as ambassador to India, I have always had Ganesha in my office and home as inspiration.
The deity has a place of honour in so many communities in the United States where many Amercians celebrate his power to clear obstacles and bring prosperity, he said.
