PM Modi in Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in his parliamentary constituency Kashi on Dev Deepawali on Monday to participate in the 'Dev Deepawali' celebrations, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. PM inaugurated the historic six-lane widening project of Handia (Prayagraj)-Rajatalab (Varanasi) section of National Highway 19.

After the inauguration, PM Modi addressed spoke about the Farm Bills explaining the farmers the benefits of the new laws. PM also attacked the opposition for spreading misinformation on the new laws. These are the key highlights of PM Modis visit to Varanasi for Dev Deepawali celebrations:

  • The Prime Minister offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple along with chief minister Yogi Adityanath on the occasion of Dev Deepawali.

  • After visiting the Kashi Vishwanath project, PM went on a cruise ride along with CM Yogi and admired the beauty of various ghats of Varanasi. PM visited the Raj Ghat after offering prayers at the Lalita Ghat.





  • PM Modi lit an earthen lamp to kickstart the celebration of Dev Deepawali in Varanasi. After which PM attended a grand cultural show. PM also paid floral tribute to Saint Ravidas followed by a national address.

  • PM congratulated the Kashi residents for the return of the Statue of Maa Annapurna's statue which was stolen from India over 100 years ago.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a veiled dig at dynastic politics as he referred to a centuries-old statue of Goddess Annapurna, which was stolen over a hundred years ago and has been handed over to India by Canada. Without naming the Congress party, the Prime Minister said that the statue would have come back to its original home in Varanasi if such efforts were made earlier.

  • While talking about legacy and inheritance, PM Modi said for him the country’s heritage rests only in its culture and values, unlike many others in this country, who value family above all.





  • He also touched on the topic of Kashi’s development and criticised those who had opposed the implementation of the Kashi-Vishwanath corridor. “When development work started for Kashi, the protesters protested only for the sake of protest. When Kashi decided that Vishwanath Corridor would be built till Baba’s court, the protesters had a lot to say about it too, but today the glory of Kashi is being revived by the grace of Baba."

  • PM also paid tributes to all those who have laid their lives for the nation. "The nation is giving a befitting reply to the expansionist forces, those trying to infiltrate into India or be it those trying to break the country from within", PM Modi.

  • At the end of his programme, PM Modi witnessed the light and sound show at Sarnath depicted the life story of Lord Buddha. The story of Lord Buddha was played in Superstar Amitabh Bachchan's voice.
