PM Modi greeted Varanasi with 'Har Har Mahadev' chant and wished Guru Nanak Gurpurab with 'Jo Bole So Nihal Sat Sri Akal'.
PM Modi lit the first diya at the temple on the occasion of Dev Deepavali Utsav. As many as 15 lakh diyas were lit up on both sides of the river Ganga. PM also witnessed the grand cultural programme.

After the inauguration of the highway stretch, Prime Minister Modi addressed a public meet and said that Varanasi is getting improved infrastructure on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti and Dev Deepawali, which will benefit both Varanasi and Prayagraj.
PM Modi said, People of Kashi are live Shiva and Devi. Today, these lamps are also lit for those who have surrendered their life for the country.
