Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Sudarshan Setu, India's longest cable-stayed bridge, which will connect the Okha mainland to the Beyt Dwarka island in Gujarat on Sunday. The Sudarshan Setu, also known as Okha-Beyt Dwarka Signature Bridge, was built at a cost of roughly Rs 980 crore. It is 2.5 km long and carries tremendous significance for inhabitants and pilgrims visiting the famed Dwarkadhish Temple.


Taking to X, PM Modi stated: "Tomorrow is a special day for Gujarat's growth trajectory. Among the several projects being inaugurated is the Sudarshan Setu, connecting Okha mainland and Beyt Dwarka. This is a stunning project which will enhance connectivity."






Know About Sudarshan Setu



  1. The Sudarshan Setu, which connects the Okha mainland with Beyt Dwarka island, is projected to improve regional connectivity.

  2. The Sudarshan Setu is India's longest cable-stayed bridge, with solar panels installed on the top sections of the sidewalk that generate one megawatt of power.

  3. The four-lane bridge includes 2.50-metre-wide sidewalks on both sides.

  4. In October 2017, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the cornerstone for the bridge.

  5. The Sudarshan Setu was built at Rs 978 crore.

  6. The Sudarshan Setu has a pathway with words from the Bhagavad Gita and pictures of Lord Krishna on both sides.

  7. Prior to the completion of the Okha-Beyt Dwarka Signature Bridge, pilgrims had to travel by boat to visit the Dwarkadhish Temple in Beyt, Dwarka.

  8. The Okha-Beyt Dwarka Signature Bridge will also attract tourists.


Aside from the Sudarshan Setu, Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate Gujarat's first All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rajkot on Sunday. This will be one of five AIIMS to be opened by the Prime Minister in Rajkot.


The prime minister would launch projects worth ₹48,000 crore across state and national ministries, including NHAI, railways, electricity, petrochemicals, roads, and buildings.
