PM Modi In Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi on Tuesday. This will be Modi's first visit after being sworn in as Prime Minister for the third straight term. On Monday, preparations began at Shri Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi ahead of PM's visit.

According to the statement released by the PMO, the Prime Minister will participate in PM Kisan Samman Sammelan in Varanasi at around 5 PM. Thereafter, he will witness Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat at 7 PM. PM Modi will also perform pooja and darshan at Kashi Vishwanath Temple at around 8 PM.

The event will be attended by Anandiben Patel, Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Agriculture Minister and several State Ministers.

After assuming office for the third time, PM Modi signed his first file, authorising the release of the 17th installment of PM Kisan Nidhi. As per the statement, he will release the 17th instalment, amounting to more than Rs 20,000 crore, to around 9.26 crore beneficiary farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) through Direct Benefit Transfer. "So far, more than 11 crore eligible farmer families have received benefits of more than Rs. 3.04 lakh crore under PM-KISAN," the statement informed.

During the event, the Prime Minister will also grant certificates to more than 30,000 women from Self Help Groups (SHGs) as Krishi Sakhis.

The Krishi Sakhi Convergence Program (KSCP) aims to transform rural India through the empowerment of rural women as Krishi Sakhi, by imparting training and certification of Krishi Sakhis as Para-extension Workers, the statement said. This certification course also aligns with the objectives of the “Lakhpati Didi” Program, it further stated.

PM Modi's latest visit to Varanasi will be his 39th overall since he assumed office for the first time in 2014.

In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, the BJP-led NDA won 293 seats and formed the government at the Centre. The opposition bloc INDIA bagged 234 seats. The saffron party failed to breach the 272-seat majority mark on its own and was supported by its bloc partners in forming the government for a third straight term.

In 2024 Lok Sabha polls, PM Modi defeated Congress's Ajay Rai to retain the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat.
