Prime Minister Modi will be hosting a meeting of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday to discuss ongoing issues. It is understood that the rising cases of Omicron and the upcoming assembly elections will be on the primary agenda of the meeting. 


The meeting is expected to start at 4 pm on Wednesday, as reported by Hindustan Times. Although there has not been any confirmation about the same from the government. 


The report also mentioned that almost all the ministers will be present at the meeting. PM Modi has gone through India's preparedness for the new Covid-19 variant, Omicron as he held a high-level meeting with health officials on December 23. 






The Center had earlier asked the States and UTs to activate the "war rooms" and step up in Covid-19 containment. To curb the spread of this "three-times transmissible virus", the government has laid down guidelines to ensure Covid appropriate behavior.


The number of new Coronavirus cases in Delhi and Mumbai witnessed a sharp spike on Tuesday as 496 fresh Covid-19 cases have been reported in the national capital, which is the highest since June 4. 


There are elections in five states in the first quarter of 2022. The Prime Minister, who is known for taking a keen interest in the party politics would have some directions to give before the elections.
