Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 18-19 November 2024, as part of a six-day diplomatic tour that will also take him to Nigeria and Guyana, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Tuesday. The summit, hosted by Brazil President Luis Inácio Lula da Silva, will see India participating as part of the G20 Troika alongside Brazil and South Africa. During the summit, Modi will present India’s stance on various global issues, building on outcomes from the G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration and the Voice of the Global South Summits hosted by India in recent years.
“On the sidelines of the G20 Summit, Prime Minister is expected to meet several leaders,” the MEA noted.
Modi's Visit To Nigeria Marks First Indian Prime Ministerial Visit In 17 Years
Prime Minister Modi's visit will begin in Nigeria from 16-17 November 2024 at the invitation of Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This marks the first Indian prime ministerial visit to Nigeria in 17 years. The MEA stated, “Prime Minister will hold talks to review the strategic partnership between India and Nigeria and discuss further avenues to enhance the bilateral relationship.” He will also address members of the Indian community in Nigeria. India and Nigeria have been strategic partners since 2007, with extensive economic, energy, and defence collaborations. Indian companies have invested over USD 27 billion in key sectors in Nigeria.

Modi’s Visit First Indian Prime Ministerial Tour To Guyana Since 1968
From 19-21 November 2024, Modi will undertake a State Visit to Guyana at the invitation of President Mohamed Irfaan Ali. This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Guyana since 1968. Guyana President Ali had visited India in 2023 as the Chief Guest at the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, where he was awarded the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman. During the visit, Modi will hold bilateral discussions with President Ali, engage with other senior Guyanese leaders, address the Guyanese Parliament, and interact with the Indian diaspora.
The MEA also revealed that the Prime Minister will participate in the Second CARICOM-India Summit in Georgetown, aiming to bolster India’s ties with the Caribbean region through meetings with leaders of CARICOM member countries.
