Taking a swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks in Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the entire "ecosystem" and their supporters were jubilant after "some people's remarks" in Lok Sabha. Repling to the Motion of Thanks on President's address in Lok Sabha, PM Modi slammed the Opposition and said that those pained by India's progress must introspect.

"Leaders spoke on President's address as per their interest, nature but their utterances also reflect their capability, capacity, intent. After some people's remarks yesterday in Lok Sabha, entire 'ecosystem' and their supporters were jubilant," PM Modi said.

Taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi's absence in Lok Sabha, PM Modi said, "I was watching yesterday. After the speeches of a few people, some people were happily saying, 'Ye hui na baat'. Maybe they slept well and couldn't wake up (on time)."

PM Modi's address comes a day after Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, speaking in the Lok Sabha, linked the massive rise in the business fortunes and personal wealth of businessman Gautam Adani to the Modi government coming to power in 2014.

The Budget session of Parliament has been marred by ruckus ever since US short-seller Hindenburg Research accused Adani Group of stock manipulation and accounting fraud. The Adani Group has denied any wrongdoing and has threatened to sue Hindenburg.

Amid PM Modi's remarks, some Opposition leaders walked out of the Lok Sabha, raising slogans demanding a joint parliamentary committee probe on the allegations against the Adani Group.

Continuing his attack on the Opposition, PM Modi said India assuming the G20 presidency was a matter of pride for the country but "some people are upset over India’s growth".

"Today, there is positivity, hope, trust for India across the world. It is a matter of joy that today India has received the opportunity of G20 Presidency. It is a matter of pride for the country, for the 140 crore Indians. But I think this too is hurting some people," the Prime Minister said.

The PM said the world was looking at India with hope amid instability in some parts of the globe due to the once-in-a-century pandemic and conflicts.

"A few people, drowning in despair, are uanble to accept the country's progress. They don't see achievements of the people of the country. It's the result of the efforts of 140 crore people of the country due to which India is making a name. They don't see those achievements," he further said.

Hitting out at the Congress-led UPA regime, PM Modi said its trademark was to let every opportunity turn into crisis from 2004-2014.

"During 10 years of UPA govt, inflation was in double digits and hence when something good happens, their sadness increases. In the history of the country's independence, 2004-2014 was full of scams. Terror attacks took place across the country in those 10 years," he said.

In a sneering jibe at the Oppostion, PM Modi said the Enforcement Directorate was able to bring all Opposition parties together on one platform, which the electorate could not do.

"The Opposition keeps contradicting itself, they say India is weakened and then allege India is pressuring other countries," PM Modi said.
