New Delhi: The Economic Advisory Council to Prime Minister, led by Bibek Debroy, will unveil the ‘Competitiveness Roadmap for India@100,’ a blueprint for the country’s journey towards its centennial year on Tuesday. The release event will take place in the national capital at Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts (IGNCA) at 11:00 AM. The event will be live streamed on YouTube at www.YouTube.com/arthsastra. The document has been prepared jointly with the Institute for Competitiveness which is part of the global network of the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness at Harvard Business School.


What does the report expect to highlight?


The document aims to identify the steps required to realise the vast potential of the nation, the government said in a statement.

The roadmap will show the path for India to become a higher-income country by 2047. The blueprint will also propose policy goals, principles and approaches to push India’s economy in the direction of sustainability and resilience, embedded in social progress and shared prosperity, the statement said.


It will also set the stage for initiatives based on India’s present economic state and competitive advantages. Building on the reforms over recent years, it addresses on what actions India needs to prioritise now and how it needs to organise itself to deliver these effectively, as per the statement.


The document also says that the competitiveness approach should serve as the cornerstone of India’s economic and social policy to drive growth further and sustain it over the long term, the statement said.


The document will be released in the presence of Council Chairman Bibek Debroy, G-20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant, and Council member Sanjeev Sanyal.


The release will be followed by a panel discussion of the members of the Stakeholder Group constituted as part of the initiative. The panel includes Hari Menon, director India country office, BMGF; Ravi Venkatesan, chairman, Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet; Gurcharan Das, Author and Thinker; Sumant Sinha, Chairman & MD, Renew Power among others.
