New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered prayers at the Kedarnath Dham, during a visit to Badrinath and Kedarnath where he will also lay the groundwork for projects worth more than Rs 3,400 crore. At around 8:30 am, PM Modi performed darshan and puja at the Kedarnath temple. 






Security arrangements have been tightened in the area ahead for PM Modi's visit. While officials are busy finalising the preparations for the two-day program of the prime minister, the priests of both the Dhams and the devotees are also excited by his arrival. Both holy sites have been decorated with many quintals of flowers. 






The projects which he will launch today include two new ropeway projects connecting Gaurikund to Kedarnath and Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib. The infrastructural development is being done to strengthen connectivity and religious tourism in the state and its adjoining areas.

While the officials are busy finalising the preparations for the two-day program of the prime minister, the priests of both the Dhams and the devotees are also excited by his arrival. Both holy sites have been decorated with many quintals of flowers. 


“At around 9 AM, Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of the Kedarnath Ropeway Project. After that, he will visit the Adi Guru Shankaracharya Samadhi Sthal," the PMO office further said.


“At around 9:25 AM, Prime Minister will review the progress of development works along Mandakini Asthapath and Saraswati Asthapath," the statement read.


Modi will take part in the prayers at the Badrinath temple and look over how the riverfront development is progressing. Apart from this, he will visit Badrinath Dham to offer prayers and will review the progress of the development works along the riverfront.


Later in the afternoon, he will lay the foundation stone of road and ropeway projects and address the people at Mana village near Badrinath. Thereafter, he will review the progress of the beautification works of the Arrival Plaza and the lakes.


The Prime Minister will spend Friday night in Badrinath.
