Barhait: Somewhere in the midst of ongoing protests in the national capital over the Citizenship Amendment Act, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday once again reiterated that the newly passed law does not take away any rights of an Indian citizen or cause any harm to them. Speaking at his last election rally in Jharkhand's Barhait, PM Modi also teared into the Congress and its allies over the CAA protest taking place across the country by saying that they are instigating Muslims for political purposes.

"The Citizenship Amendment Act does not take away any rights of an Indian citizen or cause any harm. The Congress and its allies are instigating Muslims for political purposes," PM Modi said while appealing citizens of the country to maintain peace.

"I request the students in colleges and universities of this country to understand their own importance, understand this important time of their lives, understand the importance of their educational institutions," he said.

"Stop this guerrilla politics. Indian Constitution is our only holy book. I appeal to youth in colleges to debate our policies, protest democratically. We will listen to you. But some parties, urban naxals, are firing off your shoulders," PM Modi said.

"This act is for those people who have been in a very miserable condition for a long time. The Act we made is for the people who have been suffering religious persecution in the three neighbouring countries and have come to India because of it. So where is the infringement of rights of any Indian Muslim or any other Indian?" the Prime Minister asked.

"I challenge the Congress and their allies that if they have the guts they should openly declare that they will give Indian citizenship to every Pakistani citizen and that they will bring back Article 370 in Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh," he said.

The country has witnessed heavy uproar since the day Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) was passed in the Rajya Sabha last week. Fresh Protests have erupted in North East Delhi, Seelampur area on Tuesday afternoon against the Citizenship Amendment Act. As per reports, stones were pelted by the protesters and many buses of DTC have been damaged.

Locals informed media that police have resorted to lathi-charge and used tear gas shells against the protesters. The protests have been organised to show solidarity with Jamia Students and against the CAA which is the latest flash point in the country.

Police officials said the situation is under control in the area. However, it is not clear which organisation was behind the protest. Reports said that some people have been injured in the clashes between the police and the protesters.
