PM Modi In Odisha: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday heaped praise on veteran Bharatiya Janta Party leader Lal Krishna Advani and said that he continuously fought to free India's democracy from the prison of one party and one family and he challenged 'pariwarwaadi vichardhara'. Earlier in the day, PM Modi announced that former Deputy PM Advani will get the coveted Bharat Ratna award.


Speaking at an event in Sambalpur, Odisha, the Prime Minister said, "He (LK Advani) continuously fought to free India's democracy from the prison of one party and one family, he guided everyone, he challenged 'pariwarwaadi vichardhara' and linked India's democracy with the all-inclusive and nationalist ideology, today we all are seeing the results of that. I would like to congratulate Advani Ji again and wish him a long life".






"Today is a day of pride and honour for every worker of the BJP. Today, the country has announced to confer Lal Krishna Advani ji with Bharat Ratna. This award is given to honour the tradition of service to the nation...This is a respect for the transformation from a party with two MPs to becoming the largest party in the country and the world," PM Modi said.






Earlier, PM Modi inaugurated, dedicated to the nation and laid the foundation stone of multiple infrastructure projects worth more than Rs 68,000 crore in Sambalpur.


During his address, PM Modi also mentioned the interim Budget that was announced on Thursday. He said that this budget further strengthens the policy following which 25 crore people of the country have come out of poverty in the last 10 years.


"The country's new budget has come just two days ago. This budget further strengthens the policy following which 25 crore people of the country have come out of poverty in the last 10 years. The budget announcement is a guarantee of empowering the poor.  Be it our youth, women, farmers, fishermen, this budget guarantees everyone's development," PM Modi said.
