Nashik: Hitting out hard at the Congress party for the plight of Kashmiris for over four decades, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday urged the nation to make efforts in order to create a new paradise in the Valley. Addressing a rally in Nashik, PM Modi spoke about the abrogation of Article 370 in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and its bifurcation into two union territories and called it one of the key decisions take by his government in the first 100 days of the second term.
PM Modi also raised 'Kashmir hamara hai' slogan during the rally in order to spread the word that now it was time for the rest of the country to rebuild a 'new Kashmir' and embrace the people living there. He also urged the nation to help in healing the wounds given to the Kashmiris who have suffered for decades. PM asked "will you come forward," to which the crowd in the rally replied in affirmative.
Launching the poll campaign for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for Maharashtra Assembly elections which is likely to take place next month, PM Modi also said that a lot of efforts are being made from across the border to inject violence in Jammu and Kashmir. "We have to create a new paradise (in Kashmir)... hug each Kashmiri," he said.
"We had promised that we will make new efforts to curb the problems in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Today I can say with satisfaction that the country has started walking towards fulfilling those dreams," PM said referring to Central government decision to end the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
"Implementation of India's constitution in totality in Jammu-Kashmir wasn't the decision of a govt alone, it's the disclosure of sentiments of 130 crore Indians. This decision is to bring out people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh from violence, terrorism, separatism, corruption," he said.
PM also pointed out that the decision is for the unity of India and said that it is going to be the medium of fulfilling the aspirations and dreams of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. "The country can feel that in the covers of this decision (Article 370), efforts are being done from across the border to spread to unrest and disbelief. Lot of efforts are being done to fuel violence in Jammu and Kashmir," PM added further.
PM also said that the youth, mothers and sisters in Jammu and Kashmir have made up their mind to come out of the long period of violence. "They want development and new employment opportunities," he said.
On Wednesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis too held a road show in Nashik covering all the three Assembly segments including Nashik East, Nashik West and Nashik Central. Currently, BJP MLAs hold all these seats. 'Mahajanadesh Yatra' has been conducted by the saffron party in phases in a bid to reach out to masses ahead of the Assembly polls.
