New Delhi: Jharkhand Assembly elections will not be conducted along with the polls in Maharashtra and Haryana, sources in the Election Commission of India have said.

The EC is not likely to make announcement of Jharkhand Elections along with that of Maharashtra and Haryana, they said.

The Commission is likely to do separate planning for polls in Jharkhand and elections may be held in multiple phases.

The sources said that after electoral process will get over in Maharashtra and Haryana, the EC will make announcement about Jharkhand polls.

The announcement may take 40-45 days from now.

In the previous assembly elections also polling in Jharkhand was conducted separately. In Maharashtra and Haryana voting took place on October 15, and counting was done on October 19. In Jharkhand, polling was done on December 20 while counting was done of December 23.

The Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha comprises 81 Members of Legislative Assembly, directly elected from single-seat constituencies. The term of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly ends on December 27, 2019.
