New Delhi: Prime  Minister Narendra Modi met with his Japanese and Malaysian counterparts Shinzo Abe and Mahathir Mohamad, on Thursday morning as per the Indian time, in Vladivostok, Russia.

PM is likely to raise the issue of extradition of  controversial Islamic preacher  Zakir Naik who was recently  barred from holding religious talks in several Malaysian states.

In his meeting with Abe, PM Modi discussed deepening multi-faceted ties in economic, defense and security, start-up and 5G areas and exchanged views on regional situation, Ministry of External Affairs said.


Modi arrived in Russia's Far-Eastern city of Vladivostok on Wednesday to participate in the 20th India-Russia annual summit and the fifth meeting of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

On Day-1 of the tour Modi attended the bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, while on Thursday, he will attend the Eastern Economic Forum, where he is the chief guest.

Modi received a guard of honour at the Vladivostok International Airport in the presence of Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov.
