Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tribute to Birsa Munda on his birth anniversary and extended greetings on Janjatiya Gaurav Divas. The Prime Minister took to X and said, "Respectful tribute to Lord Birsa Munda ji on his birth anniversary. Many best wishes to my family members across the country on this special occasion of Tribal Pride Day."






This comes ahead of his visit to Birsa Munda's birthplace. On Wednesday, PM Modi is set to become the first Prime Minister to visit the birthplace of Birsa Munda, according to an official release from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). The Prime Minister is set to launch a scheme worth ₹24,000 crore for the welfare of tribals in the country. He will also inaugurate the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra.


“Tomorrow is Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas. I will go to Jharkhand to pay respect to (tribal icon) Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The entire country will celebrate Bhagwan Birsa Munda's jayanti and the Centre will announce a scheme worth ₹24,000 crore for the welfare of tribals," PM Modi said on November 14.


He will visit Bhagwan Birsa Munda Memorial Park cum Freedom Fighter Museum in Jharkhand's Ranchi at around 9:30 am. He will then reach Ulihatu Village, the birthplace of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, where he will pay floral tribute to the stature of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The Prime Minister will also take part in a programme at around 11:30 AM to mark the celebration of the third Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, 2023 in Khunti.


During the programme, he will launch ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ and Pradhan Mantri Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups Mission. In Khunti, he will release the 15th instalment of PM-KISAN. He will also inaugurate, dedicate to the nation and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects in Jharkhand.
