Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with beneficiaries of the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme Navsari district of Gujarat on the occasion of International Women's Day.
Modi attended the 'Lakhpati Didi Sammelan' at Vansi Borsi village on Saturday where he disbursed Rs 450 crore in financial assistance to over 2.5 lakh women from over 25,000 Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
He engaged in 'Prerna samvaad' with a group of such beneficiaries who shared their experience, with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Navsari MP C R Paatil in attendance.
The Union government launched the 'Lakhpati Didi' scheme in 2023 recognising women members of SHGs, who have an annual income of at least Rs 1 lakh from agriculture, animal husbandry, and small industries, as ‘Lakhpati Didis’.

Lakhpati Didis Interact With PM Modi
In a boardroom-style meeting, Modi interacted with the beneficiaries who credited him and his policies for their success. The women exuded confidence that under Modi's leadership, they may be even participate in 'Crorepati Didi' programme.
One of the women told the PM that she could not fly a plane but got an opportunity to become a drone pilot, due to the programme. She said that instead of being referred to as 'bhabhi', she is now called 'pilot' in her home and village.
Another woman lauded PM's initiative to promote millets saying that her khakhra has attained popularity. Modi responded saying that it is due to such efforts that khakhra is no more limited to Gujarat and has attained national fame.
