New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended greetings to the nation on the eve of Holi. He took to X where he addressed the people of the country as his extended family and wished that the festival associated with "affection and harmony" bring new energy and enthusiasm in everyone's life.


"Happy Holi to all my family members of the country. May this traditional festival decorated with colours of affection and harmony bring new energy and new enthusiasm in the lives of all of you," PM Modi wrote in Hindi.






Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath participated in an event organised to mark the occasion of 'Holika Dahan' in Gorakhpur, reported news agency ANI.


People observe 'Holika Dahan', which symbolises the burning of evil, a day before Holy which is celebrated with colour and festivity across the country, with many parts of the country marking the day with their unique practices.






Rajnath Singh Celebrates Holi With Soldiers 


Defence Minister Rajnath Singh marked the festival of Holi by celebrating with Army jawans in Leh, where he commended their unwavering dedication to safeguarding the nation against adversaries, despite confronting harsh weather conditions, reported PTI.


During his visit, the Defence Minister adorned the soldiers' foreheads with tilak using 'gulal'. Additionally, he paid homage to the fallen heroes by laying a wreath at the War Memorial, honouring their supreme sacrifice in service to the nation. 






"We have the national capital in Delhi, the economic capital in Mumbai, and the technological capital in Bengaluru, Ladakh is India's capital of courage and bravery", Singh said.
