New Delhi: The Congress party has once again mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This time around it is over what the party has termed as 'Failed Lockdown Anniversary'.

On March 24, PM Modi had announced that India will undergo a Coronavirus-induced nationwide lockdown from midnight. The complete lockdown was imposed when about 525 positive cases had been detected in the country.

The Congress party's Twitter handle featured a tweet on the occasion of lockdown anniversary, mocking the announcement made by PM Narendra Modi.

When the lockdown was imposed in India, Coronavirus was expected to spread rapidly among the population. The world was trying to understand the unprecedented circumstances as the Covid-19 outbreak was not as well-researched.

While lockdown is said to have helped in reducing the country's caseload, it also led to the worsened economic situation along with a never-seen-before crisis for migrant labour.

As India continued to reel under the impact of Covid crisis, the economy was gradually opened up with the 'Unlock' drive by the central and state governments.

The Covid-19 situation in India has once again have taken a worrying turn as infections have surged for the 13th day in a row. 40,715 coronavirus cases were recorded in a day, taking the nationwide infection tally to 1,16,86,796, while the active caseload is at 3,45,377.

To deal with the alarming surge, the Maharashtra government has now imposed a complete lockdown in Nanded and Beed districts starting from March 25 till April 4.
