New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation in the 80th edition of his monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat'. PM Modi began his address by congratulating the participants of the Tokyo Olympics and lauded their efforts for scripting history.


PM Modi heaped praises on the Indian Hockey team for their commendable performance at the Tokyo Olympics.


1. PM Modi pitches for 'Sabka Prayas'


PM Modi urged for 'Sabka Prayaas' to promote sports in the country. He says he had mentioned the same in his Independence Day speech where he had batted for 'Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayaas.'


Focusing on the Paralympics event in Tokyo, PM Modi said, " India is cheering for our Paralympics contingent. At a larger level, there is renewed momentum towards sports across India. Our fields must be full of players."


PM Modi also urged the people of the country to adapt sports as a lifestyle. He said that all Indians should follow the motto 'Play More, Shine More' to excel in the filed of sports.


2. 'India's Hockey medal is a tribute to Major Dhyan Chand', says PM Modi


Speaking on the National Sports day, PM Modi further said, "We must not let this momentum stop. Our sports grounds in villages, towns, cities must be full. Only through the participation of all, India can attain the height in sports it deserves".


PM Modi said that India winning medals in Olympics after 40 years is the biggest tribute to Major Dhyan Chand.


"This year we won an Olympic medal in hockey after 40yrs. You can imagine how happy Major Dhyan Chand must be today. We're seeing love for sports in the youth today. This passion for sports is the greatest tribute to Major Dhyan Chand", PM Modi said.


3. PM lauded Indore's efforts for becoming the first ‘Water Plus’ city 


Indian culture and spirituality are gaining popularity globally. After successively grabbing the title of the ‘cleanest city’, Indore has now added another feather in its cap by becoming the first ‘Water Plus’ city in India.


PM Modi said, "MP's Indore continues to be number one in 'Swachhata' rankings for last many years. Now, the people of Indore have resolved to make their city a 'Water Plus City'. In our country, cleanliness will improve with the number of 'Water Plus' cities."


4. PM Modi hails Radio Jockeys for promoting the Sanskrit language


Highlighting the Indian culture and speaking on the importance of the Sanskrit language, PM interacted with some RJs who narrated Sanskrit shlokas wishing people a Happy Janmashtami. PM appreciated their efforts in keeping the Sanskrit language alive and conserving India's legacy.


"'Radio Unity- 90 FM', a community FM radio service is being run in Kevadiya, Gujarat. The radio jockeys of this channel interact with their listeners in the Sanskrit language. A new awareness has come regarding the language; now we should increase our efforts to conserve our legacy", said PM Modi.


5. India should follow 'Dawai bhi, Kadai Bhi' as Covid is not gone: PM


Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked citizens to follow 'Dawai Bhi, Kadai Bhi' while highlighting that over 62 crore people have been vaccinated so far. PM ended his speech by warning the citizens to follow all the necessary protocols in the upcoming festival season as the country is still witnessing a surge in Coronavirus cases.
