New Delhi: Addressing the first ‘Mann Ki Baat’ talk of the year 2020 on the evening of Republic Day, Prime Minister Modi said that violence is not a solution to any of the problems of the country.
Urging people to live together in harmony amid the politically charged atmosphere, PM said that no solution can be brought about by resorting to violent means.
Marking a shift from the usual air time from 11 am in the morning, Republic Day witnessed the programme going on air at 6pm in the evening.
Modi started his address by greeting the people on the occasion of Republic Day. “Greetings to you all on the occasion of Republic Day. Today, we are here on Mann Ki Baat to discuss newer subjects, to celebrate the latest achievements of our countrymen and to celebrate India,” PM said.
Prime Minister laid an added emphasis on sports sector and cited several examples from the field. “If I take the name of David Beckham, you will say that it is about the famous International Footballer. But now, we too have a David Beckham amidst us and he has won a gold medal at Youth Games in Guwahati, that too in 200 m Sprint Event in Cycling,” he said.
“National Games is an arena, where players get a chance to display their passion besides becoming acquainted with culture of other states. Therefore, we've decided to organize 'Khelo India University Games' every year on pattern of 'Khelo India Youth Games',” PM added.
“Next month, the first edition of 'Khelo India University Games' is being organized in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, Odisha from 22nd February to 1st March. And more than 3000 players have qualified for participating in these games,” he said.
