New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala and All India Congress Working Committee General Secretary Ajay Maken held a press conference on Thursday. The conference took place at AICC headquarters in Delhi.

The press conference comes on the day BJP completes eight years in power. The senior leaders launched a booklet by Akhil Bharatiya Congress Committee called ‘8 Saal, 8 Chhal, Bhajpa Sarkar Vifal’.

The leaders attacked the BJP government by remembering the slogans given by BJP eight years ago. They also talked about inflation asking “Kiske achhe din aaye?”

While addressing the conference, Ajay Maken said that India declined from 55th position to 101 in the Global Hunger Index. He also pointed out other fields in which India’s rank has decreased including Press Freedom, Gender Gap, Rule of Law Index, Social Progress Index, Democracy Index, and Food Security Index.

Maken also said that nearly 2.4 lakh people have been unemployed in the last eight years in the manufacturing sector. He added that there are more than 62 lakh vacancies in the government job sector and other fields.

He went on to say that India has a debt of Rs 80 lakh crores which was compared to Rs 55 lakh crores of debt in the Congress regime. He added that BJP has put all the Public Sector Units on sale including railways.

Maken further attacked the central government over the three farm laws that led to protests in the country. He said that 750 farmers lost their lives before the farm laws were taken back.

Further talking about the communal tensions in the country in the last eight years, Maken said that aggregating all big and small riots, India has had nearly 10,000 communal riots.

Questioning the corruption, the Congress leaders talked about the drugs seized at Adani’s port in Gujarat saying that the BJP has only helped certain rich people of the country.

During the press conference, the Congress leaders also asked the Prime Minister to come to a debate and answer all the questions raised by the opposition.
