New Delhi: PDP chief and former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti’s car met with an accident en route to Anantnag on Thursday, news agency ANI reported. According to the PDP media cell, Mufti and her security personnel escaped unhurt.






Taking to X, her daughter Iltija wrote, "Ms Mufti's car met with a terrible accident enroute Anantnag today . Thanks to the grace of god she & her security officers escaped unhurt without any serious injuries."


According to reports, the car collided with another civilian car at Sangam. Mufti was on her way to Khanabal to meet the victims of a fire incident. Although the PDP chief did not suffer any injuries, one of her security officers sustained minor injuries. The PDP president, later, went ahead with her scheduled visit.


National Conference leader Omar Abdullah, reacting to the news of Mehbooba Mufti's car accident said he was "glad to hear" that she escaped without any injuries. He also called for an inquiry to ascertain the cause of the accident.


Taking to X, he wrote, “Glad to hear that @MehboobaMufti Sahiba escaped injury in what could have been a very serious incident. I expect the government to enquire into the circumstances of the accident. Any gaps in her security that contributed to this accident must be addressed immediately."


Meanwhile, Mufti, who later went to Anantnag to meet the victims of the fire accident, said the government should provide assistance to the affected people. 


Speaking to news agency ANI, she said, "The Jammu and Kashmir government should provide assistance to the affected people. Forest dept should give no-objection certificate to them to rebuild their houses."
