New Delhi: The passing out parade (POP) of the second batch of Agniveers recruited under the Agnipath scheme was held at the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Chilka in Odisha on Tuesday (September 26).
The first batch of Agniveers celebrated their Passing out Parade at INS Chilika on March 28.
Vice Admiral Makarand Aravind Hampiholi reviewed the POP of around 2200 Agniveers including 452 women Agniveers, watch the video here:
"VAdm MA Hampiholi #FOCINC #SNC reviewed the POP of 2nd batch of #Agniveers incl women trainees at an impressive post sunset ceremony held @IN_Chilka on 26 Sep 23. POP marks the culmination of 16 wks of rigorous #Training & beginning of a new voyage in #IndianNavy," the Southern Naval Command said in a post on X.
According to a press release, "The successful trainees would be deployed on frontline warships for their Sea training post completion of afloat and professional training."
Last month, the Assam Regimental Centre of the Indian Army organised a passing out parade for the first batch of Agniveers in Meghalaya’s Shillong. Altogether 44 Agniveers were inducted into the Indian Army in a scintillating ceremony organised at the Parsons Parade Ground in the state capital.
The parade was reviewed by the commandant of the Assam Regimental Centre, Brigadier Dinesh Chandra Singh Kanyal. The ceremonial passing out parade marked the completion of the training schedule of the Agniveers.
On June 14, 2022, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and the three Service Chiefs of the Indian Armed Forces announced the Agnipath Scheme. Beginning in November, the Indian Navy began recruiting Agniveers from all across the country. It also took the effort to recruit women Agniveers.
