Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned for the day on Thursday as the Opposition pressed for its demand for a discussion on the border issue with China, reported news agency PTI.
"We have never done politics on Covid... members got up to defend 'special persons' when I wrote about Covid norms compliance in Bharat Jodo Yatra," Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said he and PM Modi were targetted for raising the issue of Covid norms compliance in Bharat Jodo Yatra.
"We are working on this matter, not only with respect to China but other nations. We don't have a direct flight with China. I am in touch with WHO. We have started random sampling, we will make it compulsory," Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said in Rajya Sabha responding to MP Raghav Chadha on a question on China flight ban.

- In the last few days, Covid cases have been rising in the world but in India, cases are depleting. We are seeing rising Covid cases & deaths due to it in China
- The health dept has been quite proactive in managing the Covid-19 pandemic. The central govt has provided financial assistance to states in fighting against the pandemic. So far, 220 cr covid vaccine shots have been given
- We are keeping an eye on the global covid situation & are taking steps accordingly. States are advised to increase genome-sequencing to timely identify the new variant of Covid-19.
- In the wake of festive & new year season, states are advised to make sure people wear masks, use sanitisers and maintain social distancing along with increasing awareness for precautionary doses.
- We have also started the random RT-PCR sampling among passengers arriving at International airports in the country. We are committed to tackling the pandemic & are taking appropriate steps.
The Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya is likely to make a statement at 2 pm in Lok Sabha and 2.30 pm in Rajya Sabha, ANI reported.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Wednesday that the government is keeping an eye on inflation which is extraneous due to fuel and fertiliser prices. Replying to the debate on the Supplementary Demands for Grants in the Rajya Sabha, the minister hit out at the opposition over its allegations against the government and gave answers to points raised by various members.
She said the supplementary demands for grants will ensure that the poor and farmers are given enough support. "We are keeping a good eye on inflation that is purely extraneous nowadays because of fuel and fertiliser prices," she said.

Lok Sabha on Wednesday passed a bill that seeks to include some communities from Chhattisgarh in the Scheduled Tribe category.
The Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Fifth Amendment) Bill, 2022 was passed with a voice vote after a brief debate. Opposition members said the government should have come up with a comprehensive legislation. Replying to the discussion, Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda said the government has taken several steps for the welfare of the tribal community.
He accused Congress of neglecting the tribals and their welfare and said the Narendra Modi-led government is working with a conviction for their betterment. "The intention is clear that there should be a solution for the problems of the Scheduled Tribes across the country. The Ministry of Tribal Affairs was formed after Atal Bihari Vajpayee became the Prime Minister," Munda said. The Bill will amend the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order, 1950, for the inclusion of various communities, in the list of Scheduled Tribes in relation to the State of Chhattisgarh.
The bill seeks to include the Dhanuhar, Dhanuwar, Kisan, Saunra, Saonra, and Binjhia communities in the list of Scheduled Tribes in Chhattisgarh.
