Parliament Security Breach Case: Delhi's Patiala House Court has ordered a 7-day Police custodial remand for the sixth accused, Mahesh, in connection with a recent security breach at Parliament, news agency ANI reported.
Authorities assert that Mahesh, along with a group of accomplices, aimed to sow chaos and anarchy in the country, with the intent of coercing the government into acquiescing to their purportedly unjust and illegal demands, ANI reported.
Mahesh was arrested earlier today by the Delhi Police. According to a PTI report, Mahesh Kumawat arrived at a police station on his own Thursday night, along with Lalit Jha, and both were turned over to the Special Cell. He was a member of the accused's now-deleted Bhagat Singh Fan Club page.
On December 13, as the nation mourned and remembered those who died in the 2001 Parliament terror attack, Sagar Sharma jumped from the visitor's gallery and ran towards the chair. Meanwhile, Manoranjan, his accomplice, emitted yellow smoke from the gas cannisters he was carrying, filling the chamber with coloured smoke. While the House was shaken by the chaos, the other two, Neelam and Amol, released coloured smoke outside the complex and shouted "tanashahi nahi chalegi" slogans. They were all arrested on the same day.
Lalit Jha, the mastermind, fled the scene with the phones but surrendered a day later (Thursday).

According to police officials, the five accused arrested on December 13 planned to experiment with self-immolation and pamphlet distribution before settling on the Lok Sabha action plan. Police said they wanted to send a strong message to the government and considered immolating themselves by covering their bodies in fireproof gel, but they decided against it.
