The Special Cell of Delhi Police has detained two more people in connection with the Parliament security breach case, sources told ABP News. They have been identified as Mahesh, a resident of Rajasthan who allegedly gave shelter to key conspirator Lalit Mohan Jha, and Kailash.
The duo are being interrogated by the counter intelligence unit of the Special Cell. Mahesh, who is associated with the 'Bhagat Singh Fan Club', was also supposed to create ruckus in Parliament but was eventually stopped by his family members.
In a massive security lapse in Parliament on Wednesday, two persons -- Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D -- jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the visitors' gallery and released smoke from canisters. The duo were then overpowered by the MPs before being handed over to security personnel.
At the same time, two other persons -- Amol Shinde and Neelam Devi -- held a demonstration while releasing coloured smoke on a road outside Parliament. They have also been arrested.
The incident coincided with the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack. The accused have been booked under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
The four accused said were upset with issues like the farmers' protest, Manipur violence and unemployment and wanted lawmakers to acknowledge their concerns.
What 'Key Conspirator' Told Police
Jha, who had allegedly made a video of the scenes outside Parliament, told interrogators that he destroyed the phones of his accomplices in a bid to wipe out evidence, sources told ABP News. Before the incident on Wednesday, Sagar, Manoranjan, Amol and Neelam had handed over their phones and ID cards to Jha anticipating arrest.
After the incident, Jha fled Delhi and went to Mahesh in Rajasthan who arranged a hotel room for him. The duo then burnt all the mobile phones. As police intensified raids and searches for him, Jha got scared and surrendered before Kartavya Path Police station in Delhi.
Jha, a native of Bihar, had allegedly sent the video of the Parliament incident to Nilakahya Aich, who runs an NGO in West Bengal. Aich was questioned by Bengal police on Friday on his acquaintance with Jha, PTI reported.
