Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday took a dig at Union Home Minister Amit Shah, saying that there was a world of difference between his words and his actions on the Manipur issue. He said that Amit Shah wrote to Opposition MPs on a Day that PM Narendra Modi compared the united Opposition to terrorists. "On a day that the Prime Minister calls us terrorists, the Home Minister expected a positive response from the Opposition by writing an emotional letter," Kharge wrote. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday had written to all Opposition MPs, appealing for their cooperation in resolving the Manipur issue in Parliament.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took a dig at the Opposition naming itself INDIA said that even terror organisations like 'Indian Mujahideen' and 'Popular Front of India (PFI)' have 'India' in them.
Referring to the suspension of AAP's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, Kharge also said that the "government made a mountain out of a molehill" to target Opposition MPs.
"This is not new. We have been noticing this for the last several Parliament sessions... MPs suspension," Kharge's letter to Home Minister Shah read. He also seemed to refer to the extension of the suspension of Congress's Rajya Sabha MP Rajani Patil. Patil was suspended during the Budget session of Parliament earlier this year. Her suspension was extended beyond the session by Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar for allegedly recording Parliament proceedings and sharing the clip on social media.
"We have been urging the Prime Minister to come and speak in the Parliament but it seems that will hurt his prestige. We are committed to the people of this country and we will pay all price for it...Despite being in power for long, we know that records of the conduct of both the Ruling as well as Opposition sides are registered in the pages of history..."
