New Delhi: A total of 1,14,245 posts are lying vacant under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in various organisations including the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Delhi Police, Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra said in Rajya Sabha during the ongoing Monsoon Session of the Parliament on Wednesday.
The union minister said that advertisements for about 31,879 posts were published in 2023, and out of these, 1,126 posts have been filled so far.
The Ministry of Home Affairs and its organisations, including the Central Armed Police Forces, Border Security Force, Sashastra Seema Bal, Central Reserve Police Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force, Assam Rifles and Central Industrial Security Force, and the central police organisations, including Delhi Police, has around 1,14,245 posts lying vacant at present, Ajay Mishra said in a written reply.
The minister further said that out of the vacant posts, 3,075 are in group 'A', 15,861 are from group 'B' and 95,309 are in Group 'C'.
Of the total vacant posts, 16,356 are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC), 8,759 are for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 21,974 posts for Other Backward Class (OBC), 7,394 posts reserved for economically weaker section and 59,762 posts are for the general category.
The union minister further said that recruitment against vacant posts is an ongoing process and added that the advertisements to fill up these posts are published as and when vacancy arises and appointment letters are issued after completion of recruitment process.
“The Home Ministry reviews the recruitment progress regularly to ensure that vacant posts get filled up in a time-bound manner,” Mishra further added.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting with top ministers to discuss the government's strategy in Parliament earlier in the day. Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Pralhad Joshi, Piyush Goyal, Anurag Singh Thakur, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman and Arjun Ram Meghwal were also present.
