New Delhi: The Monsoon Session of the Parliament will commence on its usual timing this year with reports suggesting session to start from third week of July.
According to reports, the Monsoon Session will begin from July 19 (Monday) and will conclude on August 13 and is likely to have around 20 sittings with all Covid-19 related protocols.
Ever since the Coronavirus pandemic occured in the country, three sessions of Parliament - Budget, Monsoon and Winter Session - were curtailed with Winter Session last year being cancelled. Last year, the Monsoon session, which usually starts in July, had begun in September.
Sources close to news agency IANS had earlier said that authorities are confident of holding Monsoon session in July this year as most of the parliamentarians, staff members of both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha secretariats and other stakeholders have received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked his cabinet ministers to be well prepared for the forthing Monsoon Session and Lok Sahha speaker Om Birla is reportedly inspecting the preparations made to conduct the sittings smoothly.
