Five terrorists, including 4 Lashkar-e-Taiba militants, were killed in an encounter by the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district. An Indian soldier was also martyred during the encounter.


According to official sources, after getting information about the presence of terrorists the security forces started a cordon and search operations in the Hajin village of Rajpura in the Pulwama district. The operation turned into an encounter as the terrorists opened fire on the security forces. The security forces also gave a befitting reply to the firing.


In the initial firing, a jawan was injured, who breathed his last during treatment at the hospital, the official said. Additional forces were sent to the spot and five terrorists were killed in the encounter. Four of the slain militants are related to Lashkar-e-Taiba and one is of Pakistani origin.


According to the police, the militants have been identified as Danish Manzoor (Pulwama), Rehan (Pakistan), Nishaz Hussain Lone alias Khitaab (Tral), and Amir Wagya (Hajan Payeen). One person could not be identified.


IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar informed, that among the terrorists killed, Nishaz Lone was a District Commander of proscribed terror outfit LeT and has been neutralised in this encounter operation.
