Lok Sabha adjourned till 1st July over a ruckus in the House amid the Opposition's demand for discussion on the NEET issue. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju says, "...On behalf of the government, we have made it clear that we will give detailed information on whatever issue is raised. We assure the members once again that the Government is always ready for discussion. But by halting the proceedings of the House, the tendency adopted by the Congress party - of not letting the House function - is not right...I condemn this. I appeal that those should not happen again."
The Lok Sabha has been adjourned till July 1 amid the Opposition's demand for a discussion on the NEET row and paper leaks issue.
Lok Sabha adjourned til 12 noon. LoP Rahul Gandhi raised NEET issue and demanded, along wth Opposition MPs, that the matter be discussed. Speaker Om Birla insisted that discussion on Motion of Thanks to President's Address be taken up first. LoP says, "...We wanted to give a joint message to the students of India, on behalf of Opposition and Government - that we consider this an important issue. So, we thought that to respect students we will have discussion on NEET today, a dedicated discussion..."

The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is open to the idea of having a deputy speaker in the Lok Sabha, sources said on Thursday, stressing that a call on the matter will be taken later.
They said the NDA has not rejected the opposition's claim on the post but criticised its insistence that its nominee should be given the position, saying such a precondition could not be considered during the speaker's election. There was no deputy speaker during the previous Lok Sabha.
It may be noted the government's efforts to reach a consensus on Om Birla's choice as the speaker fell through as the opposition INDIA bloc insisted that it should be promised the position of his deputy as per "convention".
Opposition leaders on Thursday dubbed the President's address to the joint sitting of both houses of Parliament as a "script given by the government" that was "full of lies" and castigated the government over the repeated mention of the 1975 Emergency.
They alleged there is an "undeclared emergency" in the country and the Constitution is being attacked under the Modi government.
In her address, President Droupadi Murmu described the imposition of Emergency in 1975 as the "biggest and darkest chapter" of a direct attack on the Constitution and said the country emerged victorious over unconstitutional forces.
Leaders of the I.N.D.I.A opposition bloc have decided to raise the NEET issue in both houses of Parliament on Friday and members will give notices in this regard, sources have said.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the INDIA bloc floor leaders on Thursday, they said, adding that opposition members are set to file adjournment notices in the Lok Sabha and under Rule 267 in the Rajya Sabha.
The leaders of various parties have also decided to hold a protest on Monday morning before the parliamentary proceedings start, raising the issue of "political vendetta" against opposition leaders, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren and three West Bengal ministers, using agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED) and income-tax department, PTI reported, citing sources.

The I.N.D.I.A leaders met at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's residence. Attendees included Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, Supriya Sule (both from the NCP-SP), Derek O'Brien (TMC), Sanjay Raut, Priyanka Chaturvedi (Shiv-Sena-UBT), Sanjay Singh, Sandeep Pathak (both AAP), NK Premchandran (RSP), and Mahua Majhi (JMM).
Rahul Gandhi later mentioned in a Facebook post that he attended the floor leaders' meeting. "All of us are committed to unitedly raising the issues concerning people and fighting for their rights," he said in Hindi.
The opposition leaders discussed various issues to be jointly raised in both houses of Parliament, including unemployment, price hikes, misuse of central agencies, institutional breakdowns, the NEET exam row, and paper leaks.
The I.N.D.I.A bloc also demands the appointment of a deputy speaker in the Lok Sabha from the opposition ranks. A PTI report said that they will press for this demand and soon discuss potential candidate for the position.
