Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar on Thursday announced that Congress MP Rajni Patil's suspension will continue. She was suspended for making a video of the ruckus inside the House in the first part of the budget session. The suspension will continue till the report of the committee comes. The suspension will continue because the committee of Rajya Sabha has not given its report regarding the suspension.

The Chairman also established a new a new tradition by going completely paperless. He went digital to conduct the business of the House today, marking the beginning of a paperless tradition by the chair of the House.

AAP's Raghav Chaddha Gives Suspension Of Business Notice In RS Over Crop Losses On Account Of Unseasonal Rain

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Raghav Chaddha on Wednesday gave a Suspension of Business Notice in Rajya Sabha to discuss the huge losses incurred by farmers across the country on account of damage to standing crops due to unseasonal rainfall and hailstorm. The AAP leader emphasised the need for a special package by the Centre to compensate the farmers.


"I hereby give notice under Rule 267 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Council of States (Rajya Sabha) of my intention to move the following motion for suspension of business listed for April 5, 2023," said Chaddha in the notice.


"That this House do suspend Zero Hour and relevant rules relating to Question Hour and other business of the day to discuss the huge losses incurred by farmers across the country on account of damage to standing crops due to unseasonal rainfall and hailstorm and the need for a special package by the Government of India to compensate the farmers," he added.

Follow this space for the latest updates on the second leg of the Budget Session of the Parliament. The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will resume today after being adjourned on April 3 on a stormy note following continued demand by the Opposition for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe on Hindenburg Research's report on Adani Group alleging stock manipulation. 


The Opposition also demanded a discussion on the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha after his conviction in the 2019 defamation case by a Surat court for his 'Modi-surname' remark made during a poll campaign in Karnataka. Meanwhile, Lakshadweep MP Mohammad Faizal's Lok Sabha membership was revoked by Lok Sabha Secretariat after the Kerala High Court stayed his conviction in a criminal case. 


Amid uproar by the Opposition, The Competition (Amendment) Bill, 2022 was passed in Lok Sabha without a debate. The bill aims to bring more flexibility, agency, and accountability to the Competition Commission of India (CCI). 


While, environment minister Bhupender Yadav introduced the Forest (Conservation) Amendment Bill, 2023 in Lok Sabha. The bill aims to amend the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980.


Minister of State Nityanand Rai informed the Rajya Sabha that the FCRA licence of 18 NGOs from 2020 to 2022 has been cancelled by the Centre. 


After being disqualified from Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi had arrived in the Parliament for the first time on Wednesday to attend the meeting of Congress MPs from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha at the Congress Parliamentary Party office. 


The Congress leader also met with Shiv Sena Uddhav Thackeray faction leader Sanjay Raut days after the party expressed its disappointment over Rahul Gandhi's Savarkar remark which made Uddhav Thackeray skip a dinner meet of the Opposition at Mallikarjun Kharge's residence. 


The Opposition has been creating a ruckus and stalling the proceedings of both Houses of Parliament demanding a JPC on the Adani row.
