Ambala, Haryana: Panchkula court on Thursday is set to hear Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s adopted daughter Honeypreet Insan’s bail plea, which she applied after spending 8 months in jail.

Incarcerated in Ambala Central Jail since October 2017 on the charges of sedition and inciting violence post Ram Rahim’s sentencing,  Honeypreet has sought a bail on the grounds that no evidence was found against her by the Haryana Police.

Honeypreet's counsel Dhruv Gupta had earlier argued in front of the court that 15 people booked over Panchkula violence have been granted bail by different courts, including district courts and high court.

He also said that some accused who had more serious charges as compared to those slapped on Honeypreet have also been granted bail.

The lawyer also claimed that Honeypreet did not participate in violence and was inside the court premises when the violence took place.

As per the police chargesheet, the conspiracy to spread violence in Panchkula was hatched by Honeypreet and the 45-member dera management committee at the dera headquarters.
