Pakistani Terrorist, Nabbed In Delhi's Laxmi Nagar, Sent To 14-Day Police Custody

The Pakistani national, who had obtained fake Indian identity cards through forged documents, has been identified as Mohd Ashraf alias Ali, a resident of Punjab province in Pakistan

New Delhi: Pakistani terrorist, who was arrested on Monday from Delhi's Laxmi Nagar, has been sent to 14-day police custody by Delhi's Patiala Court. 

The Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested a suspected Pakistani terrorist, who was planning to carry out a terror attack during the festival season in the national capital. 

The Pakistani national, who had obtained fake Indian identity cards through forged documents, has been identified as Mohd Ashraf alias Ali, a resident of Punjab province in Pakistan.

According to DCP Special Cell Pramod Kushwaha, Mohd Asraf has been in India for more than a decade using Indian identity. Initial probe revealed his involvement as a sleeper cell, orchestrating subversive activities. 

The arrested accused was living as an Indian national by the name of Ali Ahmed Noori, a resident of Shastri Nagar in the national capital.

"He got several fake ids made, one such was under the name of Ahmed Noori. He had acquired an Indian passport too, travelled to Thailand and Saudi Arabia. He married an Indian woman in Ghaziabad for documents; had acquired Indian id in Bihar," Kushwaha said.

At the time of his arrest, the police recovered an AK 47 rifle along with several other arms and ammunition. Two magazines with 60 rounds, one hand grenade, and two pistols with 50 rounds of cartridges were also recovered from his possession.

The suspect has been arrested under relevant sections of the UAPA Act, Explosives Act, and Arms Act.
