Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control for the consecutive third time on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
The Indian Army said in a statement that the Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked small-arms fire across the LoC in the areas opposite Tutmari Gali and Rampur Sectors.
"Our troops responded effectively with appropriate small arms fire," the Army added.
The ceasefire violations come as ties plunge to a further low between India and Pakistan after the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam where 26 civilians were killed.
